So I'm walking through Wal-Mart yesterday, minding my own business and I hear someone call my name... "Mr. Riley!" I turn around and recognize the young lady and her daughter. I walked towards them and as I got closer I could see her eyes get big and her jaw dropped. "You are really losing weight", she says! "I can really see it!" I was at a loss for words at the moment. I smiled and simply said thank you! I thought about it for a second and I said to her, you know, I've heard it from other people but I still don't see it. It's always the person losing the weight who is the last to be able to tell. I can't tell you how good this made me feel. It was much more than what she said, but the immediate reaction that told the story. If a picture is worth a 1000 words, then the photo above should say it all! I never thought I would be able to use the before pic as a comparison. Forgive me, but sometimes my mind dwells into the negative. I work so hard and had seen so little change until I felt like I may as well give up. At least that's what one side of me was thinking. The part of me that's been at this place before says to not even look up because you might start realizing how long the road ahead is. The voice of one of my college coaches enters my head when he said to us that you eat an elephant one bite at a time. So I push on and I push harder. I had to change the way I was thinking. THIS is what I came up with: I have much more to go, but after yesterday and putting together the pic you see above, I can finally SEE that my work has not been in vein. I know that I'm not the only one out there who has tried and failed to lose weight. In fact, I know that we are at that time of year when people start making their New Year's Resolutions to lose weight and live healthy.
